Immigration & Naturalization Law

Attorney Matthew J. Maiona is head of the Immigration Law department and is a partner with the firm. Attorney Maiona has been practicing Immigration law for over ten years and is a member of the American Immigration Lawyers Association. Attorney Maiona is a contributing author in the recent Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) two volume treatise entitled Immigration Practice Manual that was published in November 2004, as well as the MCLE Immigration Law Conference two volume treatise published May 14, 2004. Attorney Maiona is also a regular lecturer on business immigration law topics for Sterling Education Services.

Immigration law has always been a source of confusion and frustration for those who are waiting for visas, residency, citizenship and work authorization. It is not often that you hear a story about someone who just completed the immigration process who was pleased with how events unfolded.

Attorney Maiona will lead you through the process using his years of experience as an immigration attorney. Whether it is a B, E, F, H-1B, H-2A, H-2B, J, K, L-1A&B, O, P, R, V visas or TN NAFTA visa, the PERM alien labor certification process, legal permanent residency, consular processing, naturalization or removal/deportation matter, Attorney Maiona will make certain that you have knowledgeable and practical advice to help you resolve your immigration matter. You need to have “real world” advice for your problems and issues and not “best case scenarios” so that you can plan appropriately. Attorney Maiona and his associate, Attorney Sara Ward, will explain the immigration laws and procedures to you in a knowledgeable but simple way without the use of complex legal terms that only make the matter more confusing. It is important to us that you completely understand how we can help you and what we will do.

Attorney Maiona's immigration practice is nationwide and he has helped both businesses and individuals throughout the country achieve their goals through the immigration system in an expeditious and cost efficient manner. Attorney Maiona has several years of experience dealing with the US Citizenship & Immigration Services, Immigration & Customs Enforcement, Customs & Border Protection, US Department of Labor, Executive Office for Immigration Review/Immigration Court, local state employment/labor agencies, Department of State, Department of Justice and US Embassies and Consulates worldwide.

Our years of experience as well as our sensible and practical advise can lead you through the immigration maze to success in an expeditious manner.

Family Law

Attorney Justin G. Maiona is head of the Family Law department and is a partner with the firm. Mr. Maiona has been practicing Family Law for over eleven years exclusively. Mr. Maiona was a clerk at the Probate and Family Court in Norfolk County.

If you are separated or considering pursuing divorce from your spouse, it is critical to know that your initial actions and decisions could not only dramatically affect the outcome of your divorce but also your financial and emotional future. Division of property, alimony, child support, custody and visitation are a number of factors that are often decided on a temporary basis at the very beginning of a separation or divorce. These 'temporary' results are often the basis for the final or permanent orders. Only with representation by counsel that specializes in the field of Family Law, can you be sure that these decisions will be made with the foresight and knowledge of an experienced professional.

Child related issues are complex and serious. Decisions about child support, childcare, and educational expenses for example must not be made without careful consideration of long-range implications and impacts, both on the child and yourself. While the child's best interests must always be considered first, your emotional and financial well being must be stable in order to best provide for that child in the present and the future. There are no more difficult decisions to make than those that involve the care and custody of your child, whether it is in a divorce or paternity action. Representation by an experienced Family Law attorney is the only way to ensure the best possible scenario for both you and your child.

Likewise, if you are considering Adoption or are involved in a Guardianship issue, only an experienced Family Law attorney can best navigate the complexities and concerns of the Probate & Family Courts. These issues, similar to divorce and paternity issues, often involve deep emotional investment by the concerned parties. It is during these times, when emotions run high, that the service of a Family Law attorney is invaluable. The Family Law attorney uses the Probate and Family Courts every day and understands the personal as well as legal factors people encounter in these situations.

Any of the situations described above involve a time of relative crisis in a persons lifetime. At such a time it is important to have the assistance of a Family Law attorney who is able to not only protect your legal interests, but also seek a solution that is sensitive to your needs and wishes. The Probate & Family Court system is an intense and often overwhelming forum. If you find yourself involved in this system, you should retain the services of a Family Law attorney immediately.
