Matthew J. Maiona is a partner at Maiona Ward and has exclusively practiced immigration law for over 18 years. Attorney Maiona represents clients nation-wide ranging from hospitals, environmental companies, information technology companies, the hotel/hospitality industry, construction, architectural firms, retail, engineering and insurance companies to individuals seeking visas to work and live in the United States. Attorney Maiona represents both employers and employees before the US Citizenship & Immigration Services, Department of Labor, and Department of Homeland Security, Department of State, U.S. Embassies, Consulates, state labor agencies, Executive Office for Immigration Review, Board of Alien Labor Certification Appeals, Office of the Chief Administrative Hearing Officer and federal courts. He has appeared on television and been the keynote speaker at seminars for the American Immigration Lawyers Association locally and nationally (AILA), the Employment Management Association of New England, Massachusetts Continuing Legal Education (MCLE) and Sterling Education Services, as well as private recruiting firms on the topic of business immigration law and removal defense.

In addition, Attorney Maiona is an adjunct professor at Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA where he teaches Business Immigration Law. Attorney Maiona has testified before the Massachusetts Joint Committee on Education regarding immigration law and procedure and has been recognized by Family Courts in Massachusetts and Rhode Island as a qualified expert in Immigration Law. Attorney Maiona is a contributing author to MCLE’s two volume treatise: Immigration Practice Manual. Mr. Maiona is currently co-chair of the Federal Bar Association (Boston) Immigration Section; the Chair of AILA’s pro bono Military Assistance Program Task Force; committee member for AILA’s Media Advocacy Committee; and AILA New England liaison to the Immigration Court in Boston. He received his B.A. cum laude from Boston College and his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School. Attorney Maiona has been peer review rated for legal ability and ethical standards by Martindale-Hubbell since 2007 and currently has an AV rating. He has been recognized as a Rising Star in the field of Immigration Law by the "Super Lawyer" publication of Boston Magazine on two occasions. Attorney Maiona is an active member of AILA and is a past Chapter Chair of the Executive Board for the New England Chapter of AILA and is a AILA mentor for other immigration attorneys.
